Frequently Asked Questions
1. What makes the SC Series breaker different from other breakers?
Unlike nitrogen-assisted breakers, the SC breaker is fully hydraulic so it never loses power or needs to be refilled. In addition, the breaker’s enclosed energy chamber in conjunction with the integrated automatic pressure regulator ensures constant power and production. Other differences include our silver clip which removes for easy maintenance, a dual suspension system that reduce vibrations, and the ability to connect accessories such as a bucket or tamper without removing the breaker from the carrier.
2. What type of projects best match the SC breaker?
With a wide range models and the ability to strike at industry leading velocities, the SC Series can handle your most demanding projects including concrete, rock, excavation or demolition. Typically, the SC Series breakers are used on mini- to mid-size excavators, skid-steer loaders and backhoe loaders.
3. How does the hydraulic system work?
Tramac breakers use hydraulic flow to move the piston up and down. On the up-stroke, excess oil collects in the fully enclosed energy chamber. Once the piston reaches the top of its stroke, high-pressure hydraulic flow is diverted and forces the piston downward. Towards the end of the stroke, oil stored in the energy chamber is released to complement the carrier’s flow and to compensate for the piston’s high velocity. Then, the cycle repeats for constant power and performance with every blow.
4. Which carriers are compatible with the SC breaker?
Because of high back pressure tolerance, SC breakers are compatible with nearly any carrier and feature eight models that fit carriers from one to 14 metric tons (2,200 to 31,000 pounds).
5. How long does it take to perform maintenance?
Thanks to our unique silver clip that removes to expose the grease zerc, you can lubricate an SC breaker in under a minute. The clip also slides down to allow for easy removal of the retaining pin and one-piece bushing – the most common wear parts. Best of all, you can overhaul the entire breaker in less than three hours – and in many cases under an hour. A typical breaker can require eight hours or more for an overhaul.
6. How do clip-on accessories work?
No other breaker matches the flexibility of the SC Series which lets you perform multiple tasks with a single carrier and single attachment. With its patented attachment system, you can quickly attach a bucket to remove debris or tamper for compaction – all without removing the breaker or altering hydraulic connections.
7. What warranty options are available?
All Tramac breakers feature a one year warranty.
